Untitled (Unconcealment)

A camera's focus is a mechanical thing, but it also mimics human attention. Where I place it, a thing exists. Where I let it drift, it thins and dissolves, revealing some­thing harder to name.

I have been photographing newspaper boxes near where I live, metal tubes and plastic tunnels fixed beside front doors and garden fences to receive the daily paper. The papers rarely come anymore, but the boxes have stayed, mostly empty and shifting in and out of visibility.
